The optional Enrichment Day Program for the 4 year olds is the ultimate learning experience because it totally immerses the child in a multi-discipline, multi-sensory environment that focuses on a particular area. The program is divided into 2 parts. In the first section, we will explore the concept of habitats with a strong emphasis on science, math, problem solving, critical thinking and creative play. The children will actually recreate a chosen habitat in the classroom. In the process they will learn about the animals, insects, reptiles, vegetation, products, climate, geography and the people of the area. At the conclusion of this half of the program, parents will be invited to join us in a presentation of all we have learned. The second part of this exciting learning experience is a hands-on adventure that we call Great Art and Artists. The children will be challenged to observe paintings, photography and sculpture with an eye toward medium, mood, composition, tools, contrast and texture. Our goal is to instill in the children an understanding of, and enthusiasm for, Art and the Artistic process. They will study the lives and works of a variety of artists and then they will become artists themselves. Once again, at the end of this part of the program, parents will be invited to join us, this time for a Gallery Opening. We have been offering this program for five years. We do not offer it until January because it is truly an Enrichment Program. Parents are always amazed at what their children accomplish. This program will run from January to the end of May.
