Why Choose Us?
The Village Presbyterian Pre-School has been serving the community since 1964. We are one of the few NY State licensed pre-schools in this area. We must meet strict requirements regarding teacher qualifications, class size, health and fire safety standards, the physical layout of the classrooms, etc. We are inspected by the state periodically. The security of our children is top priority.
We have a challenging, hands-on, skill-based learning program. Our goal is to give your child the tools that he/she will need when entering kindergarten and throughout life.
The following skills are stressed both formally and informally throughout all aspects of the program:
READING READINESS
-
Visual Perception - alphabet recognition, sequencing, patterns, vocabulary development, word recognition
- Sound Perception - rhyming, opposites, poetry
REASONING - Problem solving, creative thinking
WRITING - encourages development of eye-hand coordination and fine motor skills
MATH SKILLS - shapes, counting, sorting, number recognition, simple addition and subtraction concepts, patterning, weighing and measuring
HANDS-ON SCIENCE PROGRAM - five senses, weather, seasons, nature, the solar system, recycling and the human body

What is a Cooperative?
Being part of a cooperative pre-school gives you the benefit of being in the classroom and having a "hands-on" part of your child's pre-school experiences. Each parent participates in the classroom on a rotating basis. Your child will be the leader when you are parent of the day.
Participation in class enables the parent to observe his/her child interacting with other children and adults in a learning environment. It is often the only opportunity a parent will have to actively participate in their child's complete classroom program.
Parents are asked to assist with various activities for the pre-school, including helping with the Halloween Party, the Holiday Boutique, Amblyopia Screening and the Class Picnic.
